TAREE POLICE SEIZE COUNTERFEIT $100 NOTES

Mid Coast businesses are urged to keep an eye out for counterfeit $100 notes, allegedly circulating in the local community.

Taree Police say they received two reports earlier this week, from restaurants that unintentionally accepted the notes.

Officers say incidences of fake cash are rare in the region.

“I think it’s more of an opportunity once people are either printing these notes or receiving them by other means that’s when they start presenting them,” Detective Acting Sergeant Gary Quilter said.

The notes have been seized.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers.
