COAL PROTESTOR STOPS TRAINS IN TRACKS

There’s been another disruption for coal services in the Hunter, with a student chaining herself to the tracks at Sandgate.

Trains in and out of Kooragang Island came to a standstill early this morning, as authorities removed Chelsea Lazarha.

The 31-year-old is facing a string of charges, and will face Newcastle Local Court on April 21st.

It’s the second incident in one week from activist group, Frontline Action on Coal.

Last Sunday, a protestor from Queensland was charged with obstructing a railway and trespassing, after climbing on top of a train near Willow Tree.
