MID COAST REGION BRACING FOR MORE HEAVY RAIN

Parts of the Mid Coast region today experienced minor flooding.

More than 120 millimetres fell overnight, causing the Manning River to rise at Taree, Wingham and Croki.

While Failford Road, near Forster, and Railway Street in Taree remain closed.

The State Emergency Service is urging the community to stay on high alert with heavy showers predicted tomorrow.

“It is suppose to head down the coast but we are preparing anyway just in case,” Acting Mid Coast Local Commander Carissa Bentley said.

Volunteers are also urging the community to pick up a shovel at their local unit to fill sandbags.
