A 37-year-old man has been refused bail in Newcastle Local Court today, following his alleged involvement in a serious assault in Mayfield this week.
Police claim the man struck a 34-year-old with a tomahawk following an argument outside a home in Upfold Street, before fleeing the scene.
The accused was later arrested on the same street and charged with reckless wounding.
He’ll reappear in court next month.
