NEW SOUTH WALES RECORDS 283 NEW COVID CASES

New South Wales has recorded 283 new COVID cases overnight, with 64 of them infectious in the community.

That’s from a record 133,000 tests.

The state also recorded another death – a woman in her 90s.

Tamworth is going into lockdown for a week from 5pm today, after an infected woman from Newcastle visited a number of venues in the city.

The venues visited were:

  • Inland cafe, Tamworth on August 5 from 9.15am to 10am
  • Tudor Hotel, Tamworth on August 5 from 11.00am-11.40am
  • Gloria Jeans coffee, Tamworth on August 5, from 9.15am-9.20am
  • Super Vape store, Tamworth on August 5 from 10.55am-11.05am
  • Ampol Roadhouse, Hillvue on August 5 from 12.25pm-12.30pm

The Hunter New England Health district has recorded six new COVID cases overnight.

A man in his 50s has tested positive for COVID in the Byron Shire, and contact tracers are working to determine the source of his infection.
As a precaution, the health network is urging anyone in these areas who has even the mildest of symptoms to get a test and isolate:
– Byron Shire
– Richmond Valley
– Tweed
– Lismore
– Kyogle
– Ballina
