MCDERMOTT NAMED SPORTSPERSON OF THE YEAR

The Central Coast Sport Awards were held in front of a packed house at Gosford RSL last night, including seven-time Paralympian Liesl Tesch.

The Mariners Academy were named Association of the Year, with Nick Montgomery on stage for the announcement.

There was a standing ovation for the Sportsperson of 2021, Nicola McDermott – who claimed the honour for the second time.

The Olympic High Jump silver medallist was joined by her Fiancee’ Rhys….

The pair are set to tie the knot, following next week’s National Track and Field Championships in Sydney.

The Junior award went Declan Squire, who will represent Australia in martial arts at this year’s Commonwealth Games.

Roosters NRLW star Jocelyn Kelleher was also recognised as Community Sportsperson of the Year.
