TRIO ARMED WITH KNIVES AND SAMURAI SWORD STORM BOWLING CLUB

Police are investigating, after three men armed with knives and a samurai sword allegedly stormed a bowling club on the mid north coast overnight.

At around 8.15pm, they entered the Wingham club.

Two of the men demanded cash from a 67-year-old employee before striking him with a knife.

It’s understood the third man approached a 43-year-old patron and threatened him with the sword.

That patron was able to wrestle the weapon free from his attacker.

The trio then allegedly fled the scene with cash in a Volkswagen Tiguan, believed to have been stolen from a Port Macquarie home the night before.

The vehicle has since been found abandoned in Taree.

The employee and patron were taken to hospital with minor hand injuries.
