DRIVER JAILED OVER SERIOUS CRASH AT JEWELLS

A Central Coast woman has been jailed for at least a year, over a crash at Jewells which left a 74-year-old woman with lifelong injures.

Vanessa Opdam was on her phone and had cannabis in her system, when she ran a red light in March last year, and slammed into Lorna Watson’s car.

While a District Court judge today noted the seriousness of the crash, she found Opdam had not only suffered a traumatic childhood, but has also shown remorse.
