We have just experienced an incredibly hot night followed by some extreme day time top temperatures.
The change moved through Newcastle at 1pm dropping temperatures by 10 degrees instantly and that change will continue to move north into this evening.
Ahead of it the mercury had been peaking with many locations reaching 40+ degrees.
Relief will spread across the region with showers and rain building on Friday.
More heat is set to return next week.
