Sometimes making a podium can be as pleasing as standing atop one.
For dual Olympian and world champion, Emma Moffatt, that was certainly the case yesterday at the season-opening International Triathlon Union World Cup race.
She was first out of the water and led for a while on the bike, before she was overhauled by German, Anne Haug on the run.
“I feel really really good on the run was very easy for me so I say okay on the last hill I give everything and I had one gear left more than the others and I am really happy.”
Moffatt had scarcely trained for the race distance.
She says, placing third is a great way to warm up for other more important events later in the season.
