HUNTER CLAIMS A NEW BMX CHAMPION

A Hunter BMX rider has overcome a crash in practice to claim the world title for the 15 years age group.

Nathaniel Rodway, who rides with Lake Macquarie BMX Club, thought his dream was over after crashing earlier in the day, but instead he went on to win gold at the BMX World Championships in Belgium.

The teenager started in the middle of the track in the final and powered down the hill to claim victory over French rider Gautier Jung and Switzerland’s Kilian Burkhardt.

“It feels really good. It’s been a pretty bad preparation after breaking my foot, but it all came together after crashing in practice this morning and I’m really stoked,” said Rodway.
