Plans for a nine-room boarding house in a quiet cul de sac at Wallsend are on hold.
Newcastle councillors last night expressed concerns about a lack of parking at the Myall Street site.
The plan attracted 21 complaints, with State Member for Wallsend Sonia Hornery calling for a review of laws encouraging such developments in the area, to meet a shortfall in student accommodation.
