  1. I think there are only touching on a small part of the larger picture….there are countless other laws broken by pub crawls and no one is enforcing the laws. Have a look at http://www.partytour.com.au/ for more information. Also its worth noting that the booths which are shown in the video don’t even have town planning permission to operate. Everyone else other than pub crawls by the sound of it must apply for Development Approvals. There are 4 local laws of the top of my head that they are breaking just by operating their business on public property.

  2. I wonder where these complaints are really coming from? This video depicits its a whole community and vast amount of tourists that don’t see value in a party tour experience. A coin has two sides for a reason and im sure if you research these websites and fanpages you will be surprised how much positive feedback people leave after they have finished their holiday. On the other note too Surfers Paradise is notorious for the party atmosphere as we all know…. referred to as…. “the Glitterstrip” Whether Party tours operate or not will surely not change that image. Clubs and pubs will litter the streets with their own “touters” which some seem happy to do now anyway. Finger pointing, thats all this article is about, and I bet those pointing the finger do so simply because they are the minority of people that can not accept Surfers is a tourist attraction. Brisbane and Cairns have tours too, so does Las Vegas… Whether you like it or not Gold Coast is the Las Vegas of Australia in some sense. You want more family orientated visitors to Surfers Paradise??? Tell the council to build more carparks!!!!

  3. Since working in the nightclub market for 5 yrs now I can see the pro’s and con’s to both side of this discussion. And this has been going on for a long period of time. However the club crawls / pub tours come to my venue and they fill our venue up with patrons which would NOT be in there at 930pm. Its that simple. We have been taking the tours for years and I can say with all honesty they have never been a problem with intox or bad behavior.
We charge entry to our venue all night on the weekends , up to $20 . Patrons of the party tours can re visit our venue until we close saving them the $20 cost. I am one venue of many who charge cover on the weekend and allow reentry for free to party tour patrons.
The above news article has people commenting on this issue who do NOT have party tours in there venues, its the have’s and the have not’s. the party tours go to venues which they consider the best in Surfers Paradise. The venues which do not have the tours should not be upset that they are not getting the trade and complaining on TV making it sound as if the party tours are doing something illegal. Which the operators are not .
