PAIR CHARGED WITH DRUG POSSESSION AFTER VEHICLE STOP

A man and a woman have been charged with drug possession after their car was stopped in Adamstown yesterday morning.
Police stopped the car at about 4am on Teralba Road, and discovered that the 41-year-old driver was disqualified from holding a license until 2022.
Officers then searched the 39-year-old passenger, and allegedly found 31 ecstasy tablets, a tomahawk and a Stanley knife.
The pair was arrested and the driver was charged with breach of bail for driving, and drug possession. He was refused bail and will face Newcastle Local Court later this month.
The woman will face drug charges in court next month.
