SOCCER FINAL ABANDONED AFTER WILD BRAWL

A Gold Coast soccer Grand Final has been abandoned over the weekend after a wild brawl broke out between players and spectators with 10 minutes left to play.

Volunteers even got involved, though they were mostly trying to break up the fight between the under 19s Coomera Colts and Southport Warriors.

Soccer Gold Coast says it has a zero tolerance for violence and is investigating.

“The Spectator involvement was the part that most probably escalated the situation, so um Zero tolerance, and if we can get rid of ’em we’ll get rid of em.”

It’s understood, so far, no complaints have been made to police.

  1. I was a spectator at this game in support of Southport Football Club because i was in that team earlier on in the year, being close friends with the team i came down to show my support for the club. All year the Coomera side was out of control and very aggravated, taking it out on us when we starting winning which is totally understandable, at the start of the video you can see that the Coomera player prevoked it and i ran on only in the mind set to protect my close friends and get them out of danger.

Nobody should be held accountable for this incident, but simply remembered as a well “fought” grand final. Congratulations for winning Southport.

  2. Coomera have been a scumy, arrogant, dirty and disgusting team all year. They have constantly and consistently been abusive: verbally and physically; including racial abuse. I and many others believe this filthy team should be discarded from Gold Coast Soccer completely.

  3. Harden up Sean. it’s a physical game. Only coloured guy in the game on Saturday played for Coomera. Coomera push hard, that’s why they won the League

  4. All the Southport supporters are jokes, scummiest supporters I have ever seen, obviously Coomera are the better side if they won the league? Southport took the first swing, enough said,

  5. Winning the league of any sport is much more of an achievement than winning a grand final match. Consistency is what makes a champion side, not a one off match. Well done Coomera!

  6. Southport have been a dirty team all year, their parents shout out abuse to the players and make disgusting remarks to the players and Coomera supporters. Coomera won the league on points and deserve to be respected for the fact they did, Southport only won the final which is no big deal as fourth place could’ve won it… Well done Coomera congratulations for a great season of football

  7. Shouldn’t it be fair to ask the other teams in the league their opinions on both teams? Coomeras card count out does any other team on the coast by far, isn’t that evidence enough of their arrogance?

  8. Get your facts right! Southport is not a a dirty team.

Throughout the year, Coomera won their games because when they were getting beaten they automatically respond by causing a brawl repeatedly during every game. Good coaching Mr. They have accumulated 24 yellow cards and 6 red cards during the season. No other team in the history of soccer has achieved this. That is not a good example but only demonstrates their loutish approach to the game. Every time Southport played Coomera they were the better team by far dominating every game for 95% of the game. This was demonstrated by the Grand Final performance when Southport beat them 3-0 and when in the last minute they were beaten well and good they started a brawl. Typical of their performance throughout the year. Approach every coach in the competition and ask them about Coomera and they will no doubt tell you that they are a bunch of louts. Gold Coast Soccer has had to provide security and four officials at all their game because of complaints against them and their abuse of officials at games.

If you watch the video the Coomera player in fact instigated the fighting and he should be banned from the game. The same player in one game during the season fell down and the opposing player approached him to assist him, his response was to use the four letter word expletive ****off. How do you justify that.

Southport are an exemplary team and are taught to conduct themselves professionally and to respect others but when they are being attacked they can only defend themselves.

  9. The same player who started the fight attempted to pull a southport player out of his car after a previous game hosted at southport. There are witnesses who will gladly comment on the incident. Coomera are scums

  10. Watching the video, the red player gets up and pushes the green player, the green player (#4) punches the red player in the head with his right hand while he’s turning away. Then it kicks off, the Green player should be banned

  11. Honestly, this sort of behaviour is embarrassing and appalling. Both of you teams are disrespectful to the sport. Now you are both sat there behind your computer screen using fake names to comment on this video. Yes I contradicted myself, but I wasn’t part of such disgusting behaviour so I’m ok!

Southport, you should be quiet, you won one game against them out of four! and Coomera, you should be quiet because it was your dirty tackle that started the whole thing despite the fact that the spectators involvement escalated it. If either one of you teams weren’t dirty teams the fight wouldn’t of happened simple as that. Also Southport, I don’t understand why it is you that are calling the Coomera team racist when it was your team that were reported to football gold coast for racist remarks against a referee and during the same game your spectators caused a brawl by yelling unnecessary malicious comments to the Coomera players. You are both as bad as each other!!!

Think of all the little children from the U13, U14 AND U15 who were also participating in grand finals that day and were watching that game. The little kids look up to the youth teams. Yet they behave in a better manner, maybe you should learn a few lessons from the JUNIORS!

  12. This “brawl” is exactly why Football Gold Coast need to make changes.
It shows exactly why the premiership winners should be exactly that and shows exactly why the grand final winners should not be idolised as champions! They are not “grand champions” they won out of a potluck draw. Congratulations Southport -> You did win the grand final and were the better team of one game!, but a bigger congratulations should go to Coomera -> They were the better team all season!

Premiership winners should be the team with the bigger trophy, not the same size as the winners of the one potluck draw game.

A pure example of this can be shown throughout majority of the divisions and age groups across the coast. Many teams that placed fourth place on the table at the end of the season managed to win the finals. ~LIKE I SAID ITS ALL ABOUT LUCK~
So Football Gold Coast why don’t we pay more attention to the real GRAND CHAMPIONS?

  13. Also pretty sure you legally arent allowed to know that information due to privacy policys, so thats bottom talk! 🙂 And most teams would rather cop the cards than have a racist complaint recorded with GC soccer!

  14. Champions, but certainly not grand champions and either way; the premiership winners are more highly regarded and respected amongst other clubs. I for one being involed with other clubs other than coomera on the coast know that, coomera has a higher regarded name 🙂 no offense

  15. Not going to play into your pathetic arguments 😉 You speak from your mouth the way your team plays football. Either way, congratulations for winning 1 of 4 games against coomera! Well done haha! Surely you seek some form of condolence as you cant accept the fact that over the season coomera was a better team!

  16. The only person that seeks any condolence appears to be you because your team got thumped in the most important game of the year by a team that played football and the only way you could console yourselves is to try to beat people up. Wake up and look around you.

  17. Southport supporters started all this in the first place, when we went to your games at Southport they were dirty and abusive to our supporters/players. When Southport came to our games there were no problems at all? You can brag about your one win all you want, if we were in any other country there would be no grandfinal after the league is finished. If you weren’t so narrow minded you would realise that Coomera are the better team.

  18. Get the facts right!

When you came to our ground your players were violent and started fighting because you were 2-0 down. Your supporters ran on the field as well that night and had to be removed from the field of play. Following the game, two of your player pursued one of the Southport players in their car and kicked and punched his car while he sat in his car with his girlfriend in fear of getting hurt. Explain that Junior????

In the following games at your ground Gold Coast Soccer sent all the officials to to monitor your team and to contain your behaviour and to ensure that you would not start any aggression. Don’t claim that Coomera is not at fault. Also why don’t you speak to other clubs who would tell you about Coomera’s behaviour at their games as well. Even in this Grand Final game, your players received 4 yellow cards and one was sent off with a red card from the bench for abusing the officials.

It would seem clear that it is best to work with facts not be disillusioned about a team who has received some 28 yellow cards and some 7 red cards during the season, probably for violent and abusive behaviour.

    Magnificent indeed!

  19. I think you should stop kidding yourself, where’s the report stating that the car situation actually happened? How come no-one on Coomera has heard about it until now? That sounds like something that would be reported to police, so how about you stop lying to everyone viewing this article and start speaking more truthfully, your player shouldn’t of thrown a punch and not expect a fight.

  20. My son plays for Coomera (under 12s) and I have seen games on both sides on the fence where dirty tactics have come from both ends! What you don’t hear is cheap shots at each other, name calling and all and yes it goes for every team not just one! So while you sit there and call a team scum just remember you are no better with your words than the players! I do not condone the brawl that happened and I am just as disappointed in Coomera than I am with Southport! And I will state that its had a lot to do with the spectators too, you guys yell out so much abuse to each other and players can hear the foul mouths and bad behaviour displayed off the field! My husband played and he played soccer against southport and I can tell you southport are known for dirty playing just as Coomera is! Stop badgering a team cause you support one, I support Coomera but you do t see me hating on Southport, no you see me disappointed in Coomera just as much as Southport!

  21. I’ve recently moved to Australia and have been amazed at some of the sights and sounds i have seen at kids football …..sorry soccer.

Firstly the champions are the winners of the league. What gets you entry into UEFA champions league? Not winning the National cup competition , but coming in 4th in the league does. Luck can win you a cup , it won’t win you the league.

What I’ve witnessed in the last 6 months appals me, the shouting and animosity coming from the side of the pitch is quite disturbing. No one other than the coach should open their mouths
Kids refereeing, what a joke, they should be playing the game, if they can’t or don’t play they shouldn’t be refereeing, I’ve seen referees repeatedly blow for a foul throw ins for 7 year olds, the games last 20 mins for god sake let them play. Someone should also tell every one in Australia that its only a penalty if the hand ball is deliberate
Young kids playing on full size pitches, another joke
I saw 25, years ago in Europe, the things that are happening in kids football in Australia now, it’s a shame the authorities here don’t do some research and sort circuit the learning curve that is required in Oz.
