Taree Rotary Club plants tree to honour Queen Elizabeth II

Taree Rotary Club has planted a tree in Her Majesty’s honour.

A small crowd braved the rain to gather for a ceremony in Rotary Park – with many writing their condolences in a book to be sent to the Governor-General.

“I can remember sitting in a car with some friends listening to her coronation,” Rotarian Max Carey said.

“We honour her majesty we believe in her cause. A history maker, a gutsy leader so this is the least we can do for the Queen,” club president Dr Grace Maano said.

The club chose a cape chestnut tree.
