ANOTHER OPTION FOR NELSON BAY ROAD UPGRADE

The community is being encouraged to have their say on a new option to upgrade Port Stephens’ Nelson Bay Road between Williamtown and Bobs Farm.

Minister for Regional Transport and Roads Paul Toole said the state Government is investing $275 million to duplicate the busy corridor, linking up to 25,000 motorists each day with Newcastle Airport and the Williamtown RAAF Base.

“The Williamtown to Bobs Farm duplication is the last major piece of this upgrade and
will make a huge difference, delivering many benefits including improved traffic flow,
better travel times and enhanced safety.

“This project will be a massive boost for the local economy, creating about 600 jobs, and we want to deliver it as soon as possible, but we also have to take the time to make sure we get it right.”

Parliamentary Secretary for the Hunter Catherine Cusack said early work has already begun to upgrade the intersections at Medowie and Lemon Tree Passage roads.

“This upgrade is part of a larger package of works that are transforming the Nelson Bay Road corridor.” Ms Cusack said.

The community is able to have their say on the RMS website until November 27.
