JAIL SENTENCE DOUBLED FOR DISQUALIFIED DRIVER WHO KILLED THREE

A disqualified driver who killed a father and his two children near Casino in 2013 has had his sentence almost doubled on appeal.

Malcolm Joseph Harris was originally sentenced to a non-parole period of three years and three months, but in the court of appeal it was extended to five years.

Harris was charged with three counts of driving occasioning death, after he crashed into a parked car, killing Shaun Zagar, and his two children Kaleb and Zara.

The family of the victims has spent the last year and a half petitioning for a harsher sentence.
