COUPLE THREATENED AT HIGHWAY REST STOP

Police are after help to find two men who threatened and robbed an elderly Port Macquarie couple at a Pacific Highway rest stop.

The man and woman aged in their 60s stopped at the Four Mile Hill rest area, just south of Taree, at around 5.30 yesterday afternoon.

While at the restrooms, two men wearing balaclavas and dark clothing attempted to break into their Mitsubishi Pajero.

As the elderly man ran towards the car, his partner was threatened with a knife.

She fell backwards and fractured her elbow.

The two men fled the area with the woman’s handbag.
