WOMAN REFUSES BREATH TEST WHILE PICKING UP GIRL FROM SCHOOL

A Port Stephens woman has been accused of harassing a staff member and refusing to give a breath test at a school yesterday afternoon.

Just after 3pm, the 60-year-old went to the school to pick up a nine-year-old girl.

While parking her Peugeot, she allegedly crashed into bushes and small trees, before getting out of the car to meet the girl.

Staff noticed the woman, and tried to stop her from driving away.

She then allegedly became aggressive and verbally abusive.

Police say when they arrived at the scene, she refused to take a breath test.

They attempted to arrest her, and she allegedly kicked towards a senior male officer while she was being put into a police car.

She was taken to Nelson Bay Police Station, where she refused to submit to a breath analysis for a second time.

She was charged with a number of offences, and granted conditional bail to appear at Raymond Terrace Local Court on August 31.
