Tamworth MP Kevin Anderson says the Manilla Show will go on despite safety concerns of the town’s old railway viaduct.
Managing company John Holland has deemed the viaduct unsafe – issuing a letter to local council stating sections of the showground would be closed.
“John Holland were actually going to close sections of the showground off, meaning there would not be any traffic onto the showground under the viaduct section.”
The local show society raised concerns the move would deter people from coming to the show….
Kevin Anderson says he’s been in talks with John Holland and a solution has been reached.
“Ultimately there will be some remediation works on Manilla viaduct in the short term, to allow complete access to Manilla Showground.”
