A Hunter man will face court today, after allegedly trying to meet a teenage girl he was speaking to online.
In March this year, detectives began engaging online with the man from Maitland.
Police allege the man believed he was speaking with a 13-year-old girl – he spoke about sex acts he wanted to perform on her, shared inappropriate material, and arranged to meet her in person.
Strike force detectives arrested the 36-year-old at Waratah Railway Station just after 10am yesterday.
A search warrant of his home uncovered mobile phones, tablets, a laptop and a hard drive, all taken by police.
The man appeared via video link at Newcastle Local Court yesterday, and is due to appear again today.
