WOMAN IN HOSPITAL AFTER CLEANING PRODUCT CAUGHT FIRE

An elderly woman is fighting for her life in hospital, after a product she was cleaning her home with ignited in the North West yesterday.

The Westpac Rescue Helicopter responded to the incident just after 4pm, following reports two people had serious burns.

The 84-year-old woman was taken to Bingara Hospital after being treated at the house by paramedics.

It’s believed she was cleaning her kitchen when the product caught fire, and caused serious burns to her upper body.

Her son also suffered burns to his hands as he tried to help his mother.

The man was treated at Bingara Hospital, and is in a satisfactory condition

The elderly woman was placed on life support, and remains in a serious but stable condition.

She will be airlifted to Royal North Shore Hospital today.
