A man will face court today over fatal car crash in Newcastle yesterday.
The driver of a Nissan Navara was travelling east on Park Avenue at Kotara at 9.30am, when he allegedly failed to negotiate the bend, and collided head-on with a white Toyota Camry.
The Toyota driver, a 58-year-old woman, was left trapped in the car, before she was freed by emergency services.
Paramedics treated her at the scene, and took the woman to John Hunter Hospital, but she later died.
The 27-year-old man with minor injuries was also taken to John Hunter Hospital, and underwent mandatory testing.
He was later taken to Newcastle Police Station, charged with several offences including dangerous driving occasioning death.
The man will appear at Newcastle Local Court today.
