MORPETH MUSEUM BACK ON SHOW

One of Morpeth’s oldest public buildings has received a much-needed overhaul.

Home to the village’s museum, Morpeth Court House was built in 1862 and had not had any major work done since the 1970s.

“It looked very daggy, to use a colloquial word. The stuff on the windows was falling off, the paint was dilapidated, there was water coming through the roof.”

A $400,000 grant from Maitland Council allowed the building to be refurbished

The museum reopens to the public on Thursday.

  1. Once upon a time in a historic town we saw a majestic Clydesdale mare pulling her wagon. It seemed like a vision from the past and the clip clop of her massive feet was like an echo from days gone by.” What’s her name ? How old is she? Can we take photos and pat her?” we asked . ” Her name is JULIET. Help to keep her employed “ answered the driver, ”Admiration can’t buy her food. Hop on V take you for a ride .” Helping Juliet and having fun made sense . We learned about the History and how Clydesdales helped build Australia. We sang the song and laughed a lot. Now 3 years later we are friends with Juliet on facebook and we watch youtube clips of our Birthday Party Tour. Support Juliet to roam the streets of Morpeth for years to come. So Kids and City folks can pat and touch a real horse and can ride in a real carriage. Computers and TV are used to much in our society. Come for a ride or make a Donation.
