RECORD JUMP IN COVID-19 CASES IN NSW

New South Wales has recorded a record spike in coronavirus cases overnight.
More than 200 new cases have been confirmed, bringing the state total to 1029 this morning.
Of these 1029 cases, 500 arrived from overseas.

A baby boy and young girl are among them.

“We are reporting our first cases in children under 10 today,” said NSW Chief Medical Officer Kerry Chant, who has also confirmed 176 cases in the state have occurred from contact with a confirmed case.

The two-month-old boy tested positive following close contact with a confirmed adult case.

In a separate, unrelated case, a seven-year-old girl tested positive after close contact with a confirmed adult case.
