SPIKES FOUND ON LAKE MACQUARIE RUNNING TRACK

A warning has been issued to the public, after homemade spikes were found scattered across a running trail in Lake Macquarie yesterday.

According to police, a runner found the spikes while running along Alexanders Trail in Lake Macquarie State Conservation Park at Bolton Point, near Toronto, at around 12:40pm.

They were found hidden in several pile of leaves in the middle of the track. The spikes were struck through wine corks – similar to historic weapons known as ‘caltrops’.

Anyone with information is asked Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
