A nasty surprise for a boat owner this morning, waking to find his vessel was sinking.
The man discovered his $60,000 houseboat partially submerged in Newcastle Harbour.
His attempts to use a bilge pump to keep it afloat were somewhat successful.
Emergency services soon placed booms around the boat to stop any spread of diesel.
To make matters worse for the owner, the boat wasn’t insured.
