A 50-year-old security guard, has been accused of torching his own car, then lying about being the victim of a botched robbery and arson attack.
Brett Milgate of Pacific Pines had claimed two men tried to steal his car at Nerang on Monday night, before pushing him into the burning vehicle.
But police believe it was an insurance fraud gone wrong, with Milgate suffering burns to 10 percent of his body, and undergoing skin grafts.
He’ll face court next month, charged with arson and attempted fraud.
