MAN CHARGED OVER STRANGLING OF WOMAN AT SINGLETON
A 29-year-old man has been charged after he allegedly strangled and assaulted a woman at Singleton in the Hunter Valley last month.
Police will allege the man, who was known to the 25-year-old woman, strangled her until she was rendered unconscious in a toilet block in Bridgeman Road at Singleton on November 18.
It’s further alleged the man forced the woman into his car, assaulted and threatened her with a hammer before driving to a nearby restaurant.
Following inquiries, specialist police arrested the 29-year-old on Hunter Street in Newcastle on Saturday.
He was taken to the nearby police station and charged with 10 offences, including assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
