A pilot has died after an ultra light crash west of Byron Bay.
The aircraft dropped out of sight near Tyagarah, about 300m off the Pacific Highway.
The pilot was treated at the scene, but died a short time later at the Gold Coast University Hospital.
The man is yet to be formally identified, but is believed to have been aged in his 50s from the Gold Coast.
