Heartbreaking news out of the mid-north coast – Port Macquarie’s koala hospital is estimating more than 350 koalas have been killed in bushfires across the region in the last three days.
It says two thirds of the bushfire’s footprint is prime koala habitat.
It estimates a 60 percent mortality rate – and adds that this is a conservative prediction.
Absolutely devastating for a native animal predicted to become extinct by 2050.
