FIRE DAMAGES WEST TAMWORTH UNIT

A home has been badly damaged by fire in West Tamworth.

Several crews rushed to the single storey home on Warral Road, just after 1.30pm today.

The residents inside were able to evacuate safely before the fire took hold.

No one was hurt.

Firefighters brought the blaze under control within half an hour before handing the scene over to police.

Officers from Oxley PD are now investigating what caused the blaze.

Today incident was one of several local fire crews have attended in Tamworth in the past week, prompting this warning from Acting Superintendent, Scott Dodson.

“Now is the time for residents to check they have a working smoke alarm and that all members of the family have an awareness of calling Triple Zero (000) in an emergency.”
