DRAKE FIRE UPGRADED TO EMERGENCY WARNING

A bushfire in far northern New South Wales has been upgraded to an Emergency Warning level.

The fire is burning on the northern side of the township of Drake, Red Rock Road and Rover park, north of the Bruxner Highway.

The southern edge of the fire is burning towards Poverty Point, Surface Hill and Sandy Creek. The Bruxner Highway is closed in some sections and drivers should check Live Traffic for updates.

Residents in the area are being told to take shelter.
