Man pleads guilty to Cooks Hill shooting

A Newcastle man has admitted to the shooting death of Wesley Prentice at Cooks Hill almost two years ago.

Michael Rae today pleaded guilty to manslaughter in Newcastle Supreme Court, on what was meant to be the start of his murder trial.

 

38 year old Rae fatally shot Mr Prentice on July 22, 2022 in a Darby Street unit, following an argument over a debt.

He remains in custody and will be sentenced in July.
