It made a successful debut in Newcastle in February, as part of the Sparke-Helmore Triathlon festival.
But the Oceania Para-Triathlon will be moved to Australia Day in 2020.
Organisers believe the move will attract more elite athletes, all vying for selection on national teams for the Tokyo Olympics.
The Hunter’s Lauren Parker is the defending champion.
