TRIAL DATE SET FOR MAN ACCUSED OF KILLING CARLY McBRIDE

The man accused of murdering Hunter mother Carly McBride will stand trial for a second time next year.

42-year-old Sayle Kenneth Newson appeared via videolink in Sydney Supreme Court today, where a new trial date of May 2 was set.

The initial one was aborted last month following potentially prejudicial evidence.

Newson is accused of murdering Ms McBride in 2014.

The trial is expected to run for eight to 10 weeks.
