A struggle for a whale calf this morning after becoming tangled in nets and buoys in the Richmond River near Ballina.
Sea World was en-route to help with the rescue effort, however the young humpback managed to free itself before rescue crews arrived.
It was last seen making its way back out to sea, with Queensland whale watching boats asked to keep an eye out for the calf.
