MID NORTH COAST RUGBY LEAGUE CLUB CAUGHT UP IN END OF SEASON CONTROVERSY

Country Rugby League has slammed the behaviour of members of the Old Bar Beach Pirates, who were seen to be boarding a plane wearing offensive t-shirts.

Photos of the players surfaced on social media on Thursday, with the shirts depicting a topless woman, with the words ‘rape’ and ‘pillage’ brandished across the back.

In a statement, Country Rugby League CEO Terry Quinn said, “The behaviour of these persons is inexcusable and it is extremely disappointing.”

It’s understood the group, who were boarding a plane in Newcastle, were headed to the Gold Coast for an end of season trip.

“We have been in contact with the club and the individuals have been instructed to destroy the t-shirts immediately.”Quinn said.
