Scone residents are being asked to boil water for drinking and food preparation until further notice.
Upper Hunter Shire Council says recent heavy rainfall in the Glenbawn dam catchment has caused problems, with raw water quality now deemed poor.
Council says it’s working to fix the problem and will notify residents as soon as the water’s safe to drink again.
It says this is a preventative measure and there’s no need to panic.
