It seems little Phoenix Smith made quite the impression when we featured his incredible plight last month.
The three year old and his mum needed money to travel to the US for medical advice about his rare disorder- Infantile Refsum Disease.
Their fair day raised $10,500.
“We were completely blown away and brought to tears by how many people came out. The community spirit is alive and well in Tweed Heads, that’s for sure.”
The generosity means Phoenix’s dad can join them.
