A charity milestone today at Lake Macquarie.
30 years ago they started playing ‘cash housie’ – a game similar to bingo – at the Belmont 16s sailing club, to raise money for the Westpac Rescue Helicopter.
It’s grown into a four-days a week affair, and what better way to celebrate its anniversary, than with cake.
“I think they just love supporting the service, because some of them have actually been touched by the service – they’ve been transported or they know someone who’s been transported.”
The regular housie competition has raised more than $2.5 million for the chopper service.
