EXTRA PALLIATIVE CARE NURSES FOR THE CENTRAL COAST

Central Coast residents with a terminal illness will be provided with more choice and support, thanks to a boost in the number of palliative care nurses.

The extra staff will be added as part of a $45-million state government investment in palliative care services.

“What that means for the Central Coast is an additional eight staff to provide palliative care services for our region, which is so important with a population that’s growing and ageing.”

The nurses will provide in-home care, as well as assisting patients while they’re in hospital.

“I think patient choice is very important. I think if they are able to stay at home and they have support to do so, this will certainly help them achieve that.”
