EVERYDAY SURFER STANDS OUT FROM THE CROWD

Rising before the dawn and riding his bike to the beach, the 17-year-old high school student takes every day as it comes, a golden sunrise and small surf, or wild unwelcoming waves.
For Ian Fletcher, it all started as a 100-day challenge to raise money for hospital clown doctors.
But with the job done and $6,000 in the kitty, the calendar just kept turning over.
Now after broken boards and leg ropes, a bout of the flu, a concussion, worn out wetsuits and lots of good company, Ian’s marathon effort will end on Saturday at 435 days, but his love of surfing will linger on.
