Merewether’s Philippa Anderson has scraped into the quarter finals of the 3,000-point Qualifying Series event in Japan.
Anderson survived a tense finish to grab second in round three, after winning round two with her last wave.
“Yeah I didn’t actually know I’d won until I got in here so that’s good to know at the end if I need a score I can get it and move to the lead. If I got knocked out it would’ve been ok. I’m fortunate to come to a country like this. It’s beautiful.”
