PIE SENT SKY HIGH ABOVE THE HUNTER

What began as just a “pie in the sky” idea became just that this weekend – right above the Hunter!

A humble meat pie was sent soaring 30-kilometres into the sky above Merriwa – to break the world record for pie altitude.

A group from a university space program specially designed a balloon to help the beloved pastry reach new heights, with the entire journey captured on camera.

We’re happy to report the pie landed safely back on earth….but maybe a little cold.
