COUNCIL SEEKS FUNDING FOR RAIL TRAIL PROJECT

Armidale Regional Council will forge ahead with plans for a rail trail between the city and Glen Innes.

Councillors have voted in favour of the proposal after a feasibility study showed it could generate $4.5-million per year in tourism.

The full cost from Armidale to Glen Innes has been estimated at $24-million.

Funding would be sought from both councils and the state government for the 103-kilometre track.
