MAN REFUSED BAIL OVER ARMED ROBBERY IN ARMIDALE

A 33-year-old man has been charged with the armed robbery of a Beardy Street liquor store in Armidale on Sunday night.

Police say an attendant was threatened around 7:45 by a man demanding cash, which he stole along with a bottle of vodka.

Officers arrested the man on a Markham Street cycleway about three hours later.

He’s been refused bail, and will reappear in Armidale Local Court early next month.
