DV SERVICES TO BE OUTSOURCED ON CENTRAL COAST

A local domestic violence support service could soon have no choice but to close its doors.

In May, staff at Central Coast Advice were told the service would no longer be able to operate from police headquarters.

Today, staff rallied outside Gosford police station, calling on the commissioner and the government to ensure the service is retained.

Please see below for full statement from The Department of Family and Community Services:

“NSW Police formally advised the Department of Family and Community Services (FACS) in May 2017 of its intention to relinquish funding to deliver the Central Coast ADVICE program.

FACS believes that continuation of Central Coast ADVICE is crucial to meet the demand for integrated case management support for victims of domestic and family violence on the Central Coast.

As a result, FACS has undertaken an open tender for a new service provider to deliver the program from 8 June to 3 July 2017.

FACS has negotiated with NSW Police to continue delivery of Central Coast ADVICE until September 2017, to ensure no break in service delivery for new and existing clients.”
