EMERGENCY SERVICES CALLED TO MEDOWIE

A 14-year-old girl has been airlifted to John Hunter Hospital with head and pelvic injuries, after she was hit by a truck at Medowie this afternoon.

Emergency services were called to Kirrang Drive, just after 3.30pm.

Three ambulance crews and the Westpac Rescue Helicopter responded to the accident.

It’s understood the girl was riding a bicycle at the time of the accident.

The 34-year-old Lemon Tree Passage truck driver, who was working for an excavation business, has been taken to hospital for mandatory testing.

He’s assisting police with inquiries.
